Catherine's Traditional Christmas Musical Celebration Honours Community Volunteers

Her Royal Highness has organised her customary Yuletide celebration at Westminster Abbey, with guests including royals, celebrities and local heroes who have supported their local areas.

The sizable congregation will listen to a selection of carols, music and readings from stars like award-winning actors.

A Theme of Love and Generosity

The focus of the service, held in the atmospheric historic church on Friday, is compassion and demonstrating care for others.

Among the guests will be Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose young girl was lost to a brain cancer, and who set up a charity, a charity called Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to support families who have a child with a terminal illness.

"Your efforts, love, and understanding, often discreetly and without words, and without any hope for reward or acknowledgement, make an remarkable change to the well-being of people," Her Royal Highness stated in a note prior to the concert.

Carefully Paced Reappearance

The Princess of Wales is continuing her own steady comeback to official duties after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, in November making her initial major address in two years, in which she talked about recognising the "discreet, frequently unseen labour of caregivers".

Performance and Potential

Guests arriving at the Abbey will be entertained by budding artists aided by the Future Talent organisation, set up with the help of the former royal to broaden opportunities for musical tuition.

Trumpeter Carys Wood, 18, who plays the trumpet and is from Pembrokeshire, has been assisted by the organisation, with awards contributing to musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "incredible" to be taking part in tonight's service.

"Pursuing music is often costly," Carys said. She is now studying at the prestigious music academy, and added that "all people deserve the chance" to hone their artistic talents.

Generations Gathering

Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who is a euphonium player, will be present at the Abbey. "I never thought I'd be able to play there in front of so many important people," she said.

Attending the service will be individuals spanning multiple eras.

That will include Saphia Turner, aged nine, winner of a youth community award, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to collect donations for community pantries.

Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts

The Abbey has been festooned with specially made wreaths, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett helping to make them.

Among the musical performers will be recording artist Katie Melua, choristers from Westminster Abbey and a Cornish sea shanty group, Fisherman's Friends, who said the chance to take part was "the icing on the cake for us."

The festive event titled 'Together at Christmas' will be televised and shown on television on December 24th.
