Grief as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old presenter was accosted by a trio of assailants, with one began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The purpose of the incident remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended are in custody, according to authorities.
The Fatal Incident
Police indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a building near the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the building supervising the setup of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, as per local media.
"It is alleged the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," an official report confirmed.
CCTV footage showed a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what appeared to be a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but fell down on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and no items were stolen during the assault.
