Iranian Forces State Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
