Line of Duty Confirmed for 7th Season on BBC
The beloved crime series AC-12 is officially returning for its seventh season, announced by the BBC.
An upcoming six-episode series created by the show's creator starts production in Northern Ireland this spring, as confirmed by the network.
The actress expressed excitement about the comeback, saying she was "so excited" about the series' return. Her co-star remarked, "What a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be back filming together soon."
The last season wrapped up in 2021 with a finale that attracted over 17 million audience members. Rumors about a potential return have been circulating ever since, but official word only came recently.
Fresh Obstacles for The Team
Series seven begins with AC-12 no longer existing and rebranded as the new police oversight body, as revealed by the announcement.
Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure's role, and Adrian Dunbar's part remain working to combat misconduct within the police force.
Their work "faces unprecedented challenges", and under these circumstances, these officers are assigned their "most delicate case to date."
Fresh Face and Intricate Plot
A new character, Det Insp Dominic Gough, described as a charming officer celebrated for takedowns of organized crime, faces allegations of abusing his position to become a sexual predator.
Yet, this investigation might serve as a intentional diversion from a bigger threat still operating in the shadows, the teaser hinted.
Speaking about the renewal, Jed Mercurio commented: "Everyone involved are deeply thankful to the dedicated viewers."
"We're privileged to have had countless followers track the developments of the unit over six previous seasons and we are thrilled to be returning for a new season."
He added: "Misconduct in this country is supposed to have ended while the series was off air, so I've been compelled to use my creativity."
Actor Responses
Martin Compston called being part of the series as "a job of a lifetime".
"Not only the show's success but the colleagues I've worked with I now call dear friends."
"I'm excited to pull the waistcoat on again and get the team back together," he added.
The Nottingham-born actress stated: "It goes without saying I'm so excited the show is returning! Eager to work with the creator, Martin and Dunbar again. The city, we'll see you soon!"
Adrian Dunbar commented: "As we count down the unit return, how exciting it is to know that the central trio will be back filming soon."
"Pleased with the news and looking forward to those mercurial plot developments."
