Nearly 25,000 Lost Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Intense Storms
Approximately 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland woke up experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems swept through the state, generating powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.
Large Hailstones and Widespread Destruction
Homeowners reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities verified that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
At the same time, around 1,000 households in Victoria also encountered power outages after the metropolitan area recorded its wettest day in 18 months.
State Emergency Services handled over five hundred requests for assistance across the area, mostly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

- Hoppers Crossing suburb - multiple rescue reports
- Wyndham area - over 175 calls for assistance
At the height on the previous day, over twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were predicted to continue along significant areas of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both areas.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
