Six Arrested Following €12M Armed Raid on Precious Metals Facility in France

A group of six individuals using military-grade weapons detonated charges to breach the security of a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, France, causing light wounds to five staff members during described as the most recent prominent broad daylight robbery to occur in the nation.

The audacious robbery was carried out on the afternoon of Thursday, with police forces swiftly apprehending the alleged criminals and securing the stolen items assessed at around €12 million (10.5 million pounds), officials reported.

Five staff members of the gold refining company received light wounds as a result of the detonation, and three individuals were taken to a medical facility for evaluation, officials confirmed. A total of twenty-eight staff were inside the facility when the robbers attacked.

The robbery occurred as authorities on the same day apprehended five additional individuals, featuring a main perpetrator, in connection with the recent audacious Louvre museum robbery.

Dozens of investigators have been pursuing four thieves who employed a truck with a hydraulic lift and cutting tools to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the prestigious institution on 19 October, escaping with precious items estimated to be worth €88M.

In a different significant robbery, burglars recently entered illegally the Natural History Museum in Paris, stealing gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A 24-year-old Chinese woman was apprehended in the current month in Barcelona, Spain in connection with the break-in, prosecutors stated.

The sequence of heists has sparked worry in the country regarding insufficient protection at cultural venues and other facilities holding high-value objects.
