Star Denies Anti-Vaxxer Position Following Narrating Controversial Covid Feature
Liam Neeson has provided his voice to a new documentary that casts doubt on the legitimacy of vaccines and praises ex- government figure RFK Jr.
The Film's Contentious Foundation
Called "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is inspired by a bestselling book co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who rose to infamy during the global outbreak for claims that the virus was linked to a faulty batch of the flu vaccine.
The publication's collaborator, Kent Heckenlively, has also written books with far-right figure Alex Jones. He wrote online celebrating Neeson's involvement in the documentary.
An Unequivocal Statement
The team of Liam Neeson have provided a comment strongly denying implications that he supports anti-vax sentiments.
"We all recognize that unethical practices can exist within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be equated to opposition to vaccines," the statement states. "He has never been, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His considerable work with the global charity underscores his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
It noted that the performer had no hand in the documentary's narrative and that concerns about its content should be directed to the filmmakers.
Major Assertions Featured in the Feature
In the film, the voiceover read by Neeson features several controversial claims:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have demanded "unconditional submission" to public institutions.
- It declares that "research has become deeply politicised."
- Kennedy is featured stating, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
- The film also criticizes stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused mental anguish that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Regarding pandemic shots, it cites a report that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Historical Context and Recent Disputes
The documentary also references a historical film about clinical trials on children, which was later the topic of a formal apology by the network for unbalanced reporting.
Recently, RFK Jr called on the national health agency to alter its longstanding position that there is no link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is also referenced in the film, despite a recent study from the global health body reiterating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Position of Support
Contrasting the film's narrative, Neeson has formerly voiced firm endorsement for vaccines in his role as a charity ambassador.
Two years ago, he described vaccines as "a remarkable achievement," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in the past few years has forgotten how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's narration proclaiming, "This is not the end of our journey. Rather, it is the start of a new chapter."
